So I’m a jewelry artist. Not a lot of blog topics that I don’t already talk about.

-My inspiration? I share that when I post new jewelry to DeviantART.
-Behind the scenes photos and stories? Those go on Facebook.
-Unrelated snippets from real life?  I’m on Twitter too.
-Detailed tutorials on making jewelry and running a business? Not very interesting unless you’re another jewelry artist.

So I decided to step out of the spotlight just a little bit. This blog is for discussions!

Once a week–let’s say on Thursday nights–I’ll post a topic, talk a little bit about it, and then step back to let conversations happen. Topics will be similar to my many inspirations for making jewelry, and what (I hope) everyone else is interested in too:

-Fantasy
-Sci-fi
-Books
-Movies
-Games
-Art
-Writing
-Geek culture
-Etc

It’s not Thursday yet, but why wait? I’ll leave this up as a permanant suggestion box.

To prevent nasty spam comments from showing up, all comments will be held for moderation except those from people with a previously-approved comment.

I’ve set up a list of blacklisted words from the words that show up the most in spam. Any comment with one of those words will vanish into nothingness. (Which means less spam for me to delete.)

Don’t worry if your post doesn’t get through right away. Unless it got caught by the blacklist, I’ll review everything and let all false alarms through.

I can edit or delete comments. (When I edit, I’ll make it obvious.) Here’s the obligatory list of inappropriate comment types:

-Swearing.
There are people who get insulted when others swear, and there are people who get insulted when told not to swear. I can only please one group, and it was pretty easy to choose which one.

-Antagonistic language.
I’m fine with constructive criticism when appropriate, but not from angry people with chips on their shoulder.

-Religion, Sex, and Politics
Let’s observe the hornet’s nest from a distance, okay?

-Spamming.
I’m fine with relevant links, even to pet projects and personal businesses, but if there’s no reasonable context, it’s spam.

-Off Topic
I won’t be very strict on this, but if we’re talking about Star Wars, I’m going to delete a comment about someone’s upcoming root canal.

-Other
If something clearly doesn’t belong in the discussion, I’ll probably remove it.
